Nothing that comes on to our planet leaves without making a mark.  Some marks are deliberate, some accidental.  Some are permanent, some reversible.  Some are visible, some invisible.  Marks are left on nature, landscape, people; over and over again through time.  I express the accumulation of these marks in my work.  I allow marks to happen on the surfaces of my pieces through the chemistry of the materials and the kiln.  It gives me enormous freedom. I work spontaneously and playfully, experimenting with form, surface and materials.  I fire in saggars in both gas and electric kilns, using a variety of clay bodies and other media.
